Electrical Attenuation

Attenuate - To reduce in size, force, value, amount, or degree. With regards to an electrical signal; to reduced in amplitude with little or no distortion.

The attenuation α is defined as

α = R / 2L for series RLC circuits and
α = 1 / 2RC for parallel RLC circuits.
